2/18/2025: It's Been Awhile
It’s hard to believe how much time has passed since the last update I posted. Since then I’ve gotten married, won the American Prize, completed my doctoral coursework, became Assistant Director of the Pasadena-based choir, Artes Vocales, and became a part-time lecturer at the same institution where I’m currently completing my dissertation: the USC Thornton School of Music. So much has happened in that time that I’ve hardly had the time or energy to write new music. I intend to return to composing in full force once my dissertation is complete; and I intend to complete it by the end of this coming summer, so fingers crossed!
Music has been and remains the greatest way in which I can make sense of and express the multitude of thoughts and feelings that would otherwise overwhelm me, and though I’m fortunate to be able to work in the realms of music performance and education, the extended hiatus from composition has been eating away at me, especially given current events taking place in the United States and the world at large. There are irons in the fire regarding some of my older arrangements being put on this site for sale, and there are ideas for more new compositions brewing at the moment. I will update more as these developments mature and take definite shape!
